Kreg A. Yungclas (1934-2011)

Kreg Aubrey Yungclas, 76, of Denver, Colorado, died November 12, 2011. Kreg was born December 26, 1934 to William and Ethel Yungclas in Webster City. He attended country school at Fremont #9, and graduated from Lincoln High School in Webster City in 1953. He attended Iowa State College from 1953 -1956, majoring in agricultural economics and zoology, and was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity.
Kreg moved to Denver, Colorado in 1956 before moving to California where he served in the United States Marine Corps from 1957 to 1959. He returned to Denver and worked in the building industry, eventually becoming a partner in Montgomery & Co. building homes.
On July 27, 1968, Kreg married Sarah Lewellen, an elementary school teacher who had moved to Denver from Michigan.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sarah Yungclas of Denver, CO; daughter Lisa (Tim) Sheldon of Lakewood, CO; son John (Michelle Morton) Yungclas of Prague, Czech Republic; grandchildren Coriandra and Sage Sheldon of Lakewood, CO; brother Don (Pat) Yungclas of Wichita, KS; sister Virginia (Roger) Wold of Angels Camp, CA and brother Bill (Barbara) Yungclas of Ames; IA, sisters-in-law Patty Yungclas and Shirley Yungclas of Webster City, IA; brother-in-law Roger Forrester of Murphys, CA; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, William Yungclas; mother, Ethel Wilson Yungclas; brothers Reed, Bruce and Tom; sister Gretchen Forrester and nephew Gary John Yungclas.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, November 19, 2011 in Lakewood, CO with many of the family gathering to celebrate Kreg’s life. Memorial contributions may be made to: National Jewish Health Fund to Cure Asthma (www.nationaljewish.org).
Other members of his family who were Iowa Beta alums: James A. Yungclas, (Iowa Beta founding class) 1916, his uncle; William H. Yungclas, Class of 1920, his father; Bruce A. Yungclas, Class of 1949 his brother; Thomas H. Yungclas, Class of 1950, his brother; William R. Yungclas, Class of 1965, his brother; and Theodore T. Yungclas, Class of 1980, his nephew.
