Our Proud History

For more than 90 years, the Iowa Beta Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon has been an important part of the Iowa State University community.

While our brothers have gone on to successful and distinguished careers in business, law, medicine and countless other fields, the bond of our brotherhood - our shared principles and values - endures.

The life lessons learned through our Fraternity, including organizational and social skills, leadership and character development, and teamwork, have been integral to our personal success.

While today's Chapter may look different than the one you knew, all Sigma Phi Epsilon alumni can be proud of the legacy we have helped create and the historical quality of our Chapter that carries on to date. The very same foundation the Chapter offered you remains strong and is crucial for helping current and future members compete in the world's economy.

Our Chapter House at 228 Gray Avenue has been a second home for many young men. It has also served as a living and learning center for our members. However, if we wish for Iowa Beta to maintain its record of accomplishment, we must overcome a number of challenges with our Chapter House.

With our past and present secure, we must now look to our future.

Our Plan

The emphasis of the renovation will be placed on providing a more competitive physical structure for attracting quality young men and ample study space. In all areas, Accord Architects has been instructed to address mandatory building and fire requirements. In addition, we have placed a special emphasis on the use of practical and durable building materials, finishes, and fixtures. Through our work, it has become clear that we must make a major investment in order to provide an up-to-date facility that will serve young college men well into the future.

Ensuring Our Future

Our investment in the future of Sigma Phi Epsilon will ensure the success of our Chapter. College fraternities still play a relevant role in the lives of young men. Today, perhaps more than ever, it is important that we provide young college men with an affordable, group-living environment - one that offers them a solid foundation for their education and offers them opportunities for high academic achievement and the development of leadership and social skills.

The undergraduate men have already made a commitment to work hard in maintaining the programs and traditions that have benefited the lives of so many Iowa Beta brothers over the years. Together with our undergraduates, the volunteer leadership of the House Corporation is committed to this major undertaking that will allow us to ensure Sigma Phi Epsilon's place at Iowa State University.

We urge your thoughtful consideration of this plan. With your support, Sigma Phi Epsilon will ceaselessly provide a quality fraternal experience that supports, nurtures, and develops outstanding young men with the skills and confidence to face an everchanging world. The commitment we make today cannot be underestimated - it will have a ripple effect on the lives of our Iowa Beta men for years to come.
